For decades, Joni Eareckson Tada's ministry has helped churches welcome people with disabilities. Her life is a huge inspiration to us.
Our Story
Hi, I'm Laura!
Our story began 41 years ago, when I was pregnant with my daughter, Jasmine, who has Down syndrome. Even loving family weren't sure how to respond — and my Christian doctor urged me to end the pregnancy, warning that she would ruin my life.
But God had different plans.
Jasmine didn't ruin my life — she opened my heart to a whole community I might never have known. For more than four decades I've walked alongside adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, caregivers, teachers and friends.
I've learned that God understands the questions, the exhaustion and the loneliness families can feel. And He sees every one of our friends as made in His image — not a diagnosis, not a burden, and not a spectator.
13 years in the making…
For 13 years, I've felt God quietly stirring this vision in my heart. I watched Jasmine and her friends grow up — and then grow into adults. And I saw how hard it could be for them to find their place in a traditional church setting.
They long for the very same things we all do: to know God, to belong, to worship and serve, and to grow alongside real friends. They don't want to sit on the sidelines. They want to be part of the family.
So we don't just want attendance — we want discipleship. Friends discovering their gifts, serving others, and becoming active members of the body of Christ.
Having someone walk beside you can make the difference between struggling and flourishing.
That's what You're Invited Ministries is all about. ♥

We are stronger together
God has brought together people with many gifts — including our volunteer pastor and missions director from Nigeria. We're also encouraged and inspired by ministries who have gone before us:
Ryan Wolfe's ministry equips churches with curriculum and support — and is always there when we call for help.
Rick Bolle's church in Naperville, Illinois, shows that a church like this is possible, needed and so rewarding.
